The City of Clayton is accepting applications for the position of Engineering Intern in the Public Works Department. The City intends to hire three engineering interns for the summer, who will gain real-world experience comparable to someone two years post-graduation. Duties may include construction and permit inspections for roadway, sidewalk, and streetscape projects; field surveys of City sidewalks and other infrastructure to determine necessary repairs; tracking and documentation of construction project quantities; inventory or City assets; development of a facilities maintenance master plan and software implementation; and other duties as assigned. Salary range $13-$16 per hour.
Requirements include a valid Driver's License and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Preferred qualifications include: (1) civil engineering students who have completed their sophomore year in college; (2) prior in-field construction, material testing, or inspection experience; and (3) knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS.
